Tokyo, Japan, & London, UK, 26 February 2010 – Sitecore, the leading provider of .NET Web Content Management System (CMS) software, today announced the establishment of a Japanese office, its first business base in the Asia region.

To lead the Japanese effort, Sitecore has hired Masayuki Katayama as President of Sitecore Japan. Mr. Katayama has worked in the IT industry for more than 20 years in both Japan and the United States, and has led a multi-cultural global business to success at his former position at Microsoft Corporation.

Sitecore provides CMS software, online marketing automation and analytics, intranet portal and other solutions in more than 40 countries. Sitecore’s flagship product, Sitecore CMS, is the leading enterprise Microsoft .NET based Web CMS, and it is currently used by more than 1,750 companies and government organisations including Lloyds of London, Mazda, Siemens, Toshiba, Manchester United F.C. and the United States Department of Defense.

About Masayuki Katayama

Masayuki Katayama started out as a developer of engineering-related software with Penguin System, working on assignments from major corporations and government agencies. He went on to work for Itochu Techno-Science, handling sales of CAD/CAM systems to manufacturers throughout Japan and serving in a business interface role with American vendors.

Masayuki joined Microsoft in 1995 just before Windows 95 was released, and oversaw the promotion of server business and Internet solutions to large enterprises at a time when e-commerce was just beginning to take off in Japan, as well as driving business alliances with foreign partners in the mission critical field. In 2001 he transferred to Microsoft’s Redmond headquarters to forge and oversee alliances with Fujitsu, Micro Focus (UK) and other IT majors, and develop alliance business at Microsoft sites in over 20 countries, promoting the spread of Windows Server and .NET Framework-based mainframe class system integration around the world.

In 2009 Masayuki joined Sitecore Corporation as vice president for Japanese business development, and in January 2010, established Sitecore’s Japanese office and became its president.
