2Pears, the team that bring you the popular TechCrunch Europe events and the UKTI Pitch Workshops, are pleased to announce the launch of a new music tech start-up event - Music 4.5 - which will take place in central London on Thursday, March 4, 2010. http://www.music4point5.com/index.html

Music 4.5 will bring together music tech start-ups, serial entrepreneurs, investors, artists, band managers and key industry players to share knowledge, discuss strategies for business success, debate market trends and evolution, as well as network.

The name Music 4.5 is derived from a Web 2.0 philosophy which says that, after the huge losses incurred on Web 1.0, the ambition for web enterprises is to make money and achieve a 4.5 times return on investment (ROI). In the music and technology business landscape this means a 4.5 times ROI for all parties: artists, entrepreneurs and investors.

Rassami Hök Ljungberg, co-founder of 2Pears, explains: "The Music 4.5 event brings together the tech geeks and the music geeks, both innovators and creators, with the aim of inspiring a new creative discussion focusing on innovation, revenue and business model opportunities, disruptive technology and social content."

"Most innovation in the music industry comes from tech companies attempting to disrupt the market and find a sustainable way of making money in the 'era of free music'. The objective of the Music 4.5 day is to create, curate and deliver fresh thinking focusing on the opportunities within the extended new music paradigm," she continues.

Music 4.5 will hear the following speakers discussing and exploring the intersection between new music, bands and digital technology companies:

- Feargal Sharkey, UK Music
- Nikhil Shah, Mixcloud
- Jeremy Silver, Featured Artists Coalition

- Nina Vanneck, AOL
- James Proud, GigLocator
- Claes Loberg, Guvera
- DJ Chris Coco
- Leon Alexander, Hope Music Group
- Darshan Sanghrajka, The House London
- Brian Message, Music Managers Forum
- Dan Cryan, Screen Digest
- Alex Farber, New Media Age
- Grant Murgatroyd, Corporate Financier
- Mike Butcher, TechCrunch Europe
- a number of current artists to be confirmed

The Music 4.5 event is supported by Screen Digest, Brand-e.biz, Viadeo, Bristol Music Foundation, Music South West, and TechCrunch Europe.

The presentations and panels will be supported by a number of music tech start-ups testing their product or service with a panel of young consumers, aged 16-18 years. And some will pitch their business idea and model to VCs, angels and investment funds in a TechCrunch Pitch! @Music 4.5 session.

Jeremy Silver, head of the Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) comments: "We are really pleased to see the coming together of two creative crowds in the Music 4.5 event, reflecting all the innovation that is taking place in the tech start-up world.

This will introduce new talking points and stimulate a new productive dialogue to a depressed industry, while helping to navigate, as well as cooperate with, the plethora of new models, platforms and services launched on an almost daily basis,"
he continues.

Petra Johansson, co-founder of 2Pears, concludes: "We are creating a true peer-to-peer event, establishing a new industry standard event for young innovative companies in the music technology sector, while inspiring creative networking between music tech businesses and artists. We expect to be back with more related events in the near future".
