Marketing Week Live! came to a close last Wednesday after drawing more than 10,000 marketing professionals to London's Olympia over its two days.

In its second year, the UK's largest, fully integrated marketing event grew by 7 per cent on the 2009 show and brought together over 350 exhibitors from across the marketing mix.

From specialised data marketing, to global market research companies, the breadth and depth of exhibitors this year put 2009 in the shade. With marketing professionals from some of the biggest brands in the UK and Europe in attendance, exhibitors came away with some major new business leads.

With four distinct areas - Data Marketing, In-Store, Insight and Online Marketing - marketers were able to get to the disciplines they were looking for quickly and easily.

Marketing Week Live Visitor numbers climb at the UKs biggest marketing eventEach of the four shows had a dedicated conference programme offering practical sessions and various presentation arenas for exhibitors to present case studies, new technologies and the latest industry developments. Visitor figures show the vast majority of visitors attended at least three of the four shows.

A fresh line-up of speakers, selected by Mark Choueke, Editor of Marketing Week, also appeared on Centre Stage. Each speaker was chosen for their thought-leadership and visionary ability to shape the marketing community of the future.

With more focus being put on sharing experience and knowledge as marketing disciplines become ever more integrated, Centre Stage held host to 11 speakers from companies including Coca Cola, Unilever, O2, Wired, LinkedIn, Domino’s and many more. The impressive speaker line up was clearly a huge attraction for visitors, with queues stretching around the block!

Cathryn Sleight, Marketing Director at Coca Cola Great Britain and Ireland, said, “I attend MWL as I believe it’s absolutely imperative as a marketer that you always want to learn. There are so many things going on at MWL for marketers to come here and get new experiences and learn new things. Really as a marketer, that is my primary obsession, to learn about consumers and how we drive consumer behaviour. It’s also a great opportunity for me to meet old friends and also make some new acquaintances.”

Mary Portas, Queen of Shops, made a guest appearance to present the awards for SkillVM competition, which took place over the course of the two days.  The appearance created a massive buzz and ensured that merchandising took to the spotlight on BBC’s Breakfast Business section.

Exhibitors were also on a high following the show.

“This was our second year at the Online Marketing Show and we’re delighted we returned,” states Phil Worms, Director of Marketing at iomart Hosting. “The overall event footfall was incredible, interest in all aspects of our managed services was high, and we had a constant flow of high calibre quality visitors to both our stand and our phone charging area throughout. More importantly we left with some excellent leads! We’ll be back for 2011.”

Stephen Wise, Managing Director of Eyeka said, “The MWL show was a great success for Eyeka, generating awareness following our recent launch in the UK. It provided a great platform to engage our target audience through our presentation on co-creation in the Digital Marketing Arena - giving us the opportunity to bring our case studies with brands such as Reebok, Sony, Honda etc. to life.  We're look forward to next year's show.”

Paul MacDonald, Portfolio Director at Centaur states, “The show should challenge and inspire, it’s about providing a destination for the modern marketer.  And judging by the feedback, this year proved a great success.”
