Congrats to Strawberry Frog Amsterdam! The agency pitched for the worldwide Emirates account and won. The other pitch contenders were Team WPP (which didn't sound very creative from the start), VCCP (a London based agency), and 180 Amsterdam. Emirates and Strawberry Frog are not new to each other. Already in 2004 the agency – that recently re-opened an Amsterdam office – won the Emirates account.

Marketing News: Mr Sleep is not the only one in the spotlight

The message of the Travelodge campaign is simple enough – the hotel chain has long branded itself as a retailer of sleep – but this cuddly toy holds quite a weight on his shoulders. And Mr Sleep is not the only one in the spotlight. Guy Parsons, the UK managing director of the 390-strong hotel chain, is also stepping into the public eye. On July 1, Parsons will become Travelodge's chief executive, part of a series of changes designed to push the chain back to strong growth and ultimately ready the group for sale. Parsons' office in London's Holborn district is much in keeping with the hotel chain's low cost, no frills approach. A Travelodge sign above his desk does for decoration as the 46-year-old, dressed in open neck shirt and jacket, explains why things are changing at the group.
